ModySign extracts text directly in your browser using pdfjs-dist and outputs a .docx generated with the `docx` library. No upload, no server trace, zero leak. You keep full control of the document end to end.

Our conversion is intentionally text-focused: we rebuild paragraphs by grouping lines, page after page. Complex tables, embedded images and exotic layouts are not reproduced — that is the standard trade-off of a browser-side conversion. For 80% of business needs (recovering editable text), the result is immediately usable.

Is the layout of my PDF preserved?+

Partially. We rebuild paragraphs and reading order page by page, but complex tables, images, multiple columns and rich styling are not reproduced. For mostly-textual PDFs (contracts, reports, white papers) the output is very clean. For visually-heavy PDFs (brochures, magazines) a pro tool like Adobe Acrobat stays more faithful.

Is my PDF sent to your servers?+

No, never. Extraction and .docx generation happen entirely in your browser via pdfjs-dist and the `docx` library. Your file NEVER leaves your machine — unlike Smallpdf, iLovePDF or ZAMZAR which upload documents to their foreign servers.

Is the result editable in Word?+

Yes. The generated file is a real .docx Office Open XML, openable and fully editable in Microsoft Word, LibreOffice Writer, Google Docs, Pages or any modern word processor.

What happens with scanned PDFs (image pages)?+

A scanned PDF holds no extractable text — only images. The conversion will yield a near-empty document. For those cases, run our OCR PDF tool first to turn the scan into a searchable PDF, then come back here to convert to Word.

Is there a size or page limit?+

No limit on the ModySign side. The only constraint is your browser RAM — in practice PDFs of 200+ pages work fine. For huge PDFs, conversion just takes a few more seconds.
