Since iOS 11, the iPhone shoots photos as HEIC by default. The format is efficient but has one huge drawback: Windows doesn't open it natively (before Windows 11), many email clients block it as an attachment, and most printers / banks / public-sector services refuse it. Is the photo quality preserved?+
Yes. Conversion uses 92% quality on the intermediate PNG, well above what's visible for a smartphone photo. The final PDF is visually indistinguishable from the original HEIC.
